Vietnam and Azerbaijan Enhance Strategic Partnership with Trade and Travel Initiatives

by admin477351

Vietnam and Azerbaijan are seeking to enhance their strategic partnership through expanded cooperation in trade and travel. This initiative was discussed during Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan’s talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva in Baku on October 14. The discussions were part of Xuan’s visit to the seventh Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership, which was established after Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam’s visit to Azerbaijan in 2025. They identified key sectors for potential collaboration, including oil and gas, energy, transport, agriculture, tourism, education, and science and technology. Joint energy projects and increased business investment opportunities were highlighted as areas for mutual benefit.

Both countries agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges and improve coordination between government agencies. Implementation of existing bilateral agreements is set to become more effective, with potential visa exemptions for ordinary passport holders and the establishment of direct air routes being considered to boost travel, tourism, and business exchanges.

The talks also touched on cooperation in culture, education, mining, and aluminum production, alongside fostering stronger people-to-people ties. Additionally, Vietnam and Azerbaijan pledged to deepen their coordination at regional and international forums, supporting multilateralism and upholding the United Nations Charter and international law.
