Vietnam Develops Tech-Driven Elite International Search and Rescue Team

In a significant push to bolster Vietnam’s global presence in humanitarian efforts, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng has called for the formation of a specialized international search and rescue force. This initiative aims to enhance the country’s capabilities in responding swiftly and effectively to disasters worldwide. The Prime Minister’s comments came during a ceremony recognizing the commendable efforts of a Vietnamese rescue mission deployed to Venezuela in the aftermath of recent earthquakes.

During the Venezuelan mission, a 124-member team comprised of military and public security personnel demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication. The team successfully recovered 57 victims and delivered 5.6 tonnes of essential relief supplies to the affected areas. Additionally, they provided medical care to over 130 local residents and extended financial aid to support the communities impacted by the natural disaster.

Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng highlighted the importance of modernizing Vietnam’s rescue capabilities. He emphasized the need for advanced equipment, specialized training programs, and improved coordination. Furthermore, he urged the establishment of stronger international partnerships to bolster the effectiveness of future humanitarian missions. The Prime Minister also advocated for enhanced support and recognition for the personnel who participate in these critical overseas operations.

The Vietnamese rescue team’s efforts did not go unnoticed, as they were honored with the prestigious Hero of Venezuela Medal. This accolade recognizes their significant contributions to the relief operations in Venezuela and underscores the growing role of Vietnam in international disaster response and humanitarian assistance.
