Vietnam and France have reiterated their dedication to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on deepening cooperation across various sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. In recent discussions held in Hanoi, representatives from both nations assessed the progress of their bilateral relations and committed to expediting the action plan associated with their partnership.
Vietnam emphasized the need for intensified collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, as well as critical minerals and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam urged France to advance the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to maintain its support for lifting the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which has posed challenges to the country’s seafood industry.
France, recognizing Vietnam as a pivotal strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific region, expressed a strong interest in broadening cooperation particularly in the fields of nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. These areas are seen as critical for fostering closer ties and mutual benefits.
Moreover, both countries committed to enhancing their coordination on regional and global issues, with a shared focus on promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This collaborative approach underscores their mutual intent to address broader challenges and leverage opportunities on the international stage.
