Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm has emphasized the importance of accelerating Hà Nội’s economic growth while adhering to sustainable development principles and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens. In a recent meeting with the city’s leadership, he commended Hà Nội for its advancements in institutional reforms, infrastructure, and administrative efficiency. However, he also pointed out several challenges, including growth that is slower than anticipated, underutilized resources, and delays in significant urban projects.
Tô Lâm encouraged city officials to address these issues by unlocking idle resources and speeding up critical infrastructure projects. He further suggested bolstering support for businesses, tourism, and innovation, alongside enhancing public services. Emphasizing key priority areas, he called for efforts to reduce traffic congestion, combat pollution, expand housing, and invest in education, healthcare, and digital transformation.
Hà Nội has set an ambitious target of achieving an 11% growth in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) by 2026. This follows a notable economic performance in the first half of the current year, where the city recorded an 8.22% growth rate, surpassing the national average. Tô Lâm’s remarks underscore the city’s commitment to fostering a robust and sustainable economic environment.
