The standout performance came from Matt Renshaw, who celebrated his maiden ODI century by scoring 109 runs. His effort was pivotal in setting a formidable total of 294-8 for Australia after they elected to bat first. Renshaw’s partnerships with Alex Carey and Ollie Peake were instrumental in building a robust innings for the visitors.
Despite Zimbabwean bowler Newman Nyamhuri’s impressive 5-62 haul, the hosts struggled to contain Australia’s batting lineup. In response, Zimbabwe’s chase was led by Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza, who put together a promising 98-run partnership after an early collapse saw them lose four wickets quickly.
Ervine’s contribution of 59 runs ended when Nathan Ellis returned to the attack, while Raza added 57 before being bowled by Spencer Johnson. Ultimately, Zimbabwe’s lower order faltered, bowled out for 235 in 45.1 overs. Ellis was exceptional with the ball, claiming 5-31 and dismantling the tail-end.
