Vietnam Invites South Korean Giants to Boost Tech and Innovation Investments

In a series of strategic meetings held in Seoul, Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn engaged with key leaders of major South Korean corporations to advocate for increased investment in Vietnam’s high-tech sectors. His discussions emphasized the importance of fostering growth in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and sustainable development. These dialogues reflect Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with South Korea, particularly in advanced technological industries.

During his meeting with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn expressed appreciation for Samsung’s significant contributions to Vietnam’s economy through investments, job creation, and support for local enterprises. He urged Samsung to enhance its high-tech investments in Vietnam to further bolster the country’s economic progress. Roh assured that Samsung’s future endeavors would align with Vietnam’s developmental goals, particularly in digital transformation and workforce advancement. The company remains committed to aiding Vietnamese businesses through initiatives in smart factory automation and skills enhancement programs.

Mẫn also held discussions with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, wherein he encouraged the conglomerate to amplify its investments in semiconductors, AI, and renewable energy, as well as in emission-reduction technologies. He welcomed SK’s ambitious proposal to establish a substantial AI center in Vietnam and explore further investments in energy infrastructure and AI data centers, which would significantly contribute to Vietnam’s technological landscape.

In talks with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo, Mẫn acknowledged LG Group’s substantial investment exceeding $10 billion in Vietnam and pressed for deeper collaboration with Vietnamese suppliers, along with a focus on technology and skills development. LG reaffirmed its commitment, highlighting Vietnam’s integral role within its global production network. Additionally, Mẫn met with Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, advocating for expanded investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services. He stressed the importance of accelerating major projects while ensuring a commitment to sustainability and adherence to ESG standards.

These meetings underscore Vietnam’s strategic efforts to attract high-quality foreign investment, particularly from South Korean conglomerates, as it seeks to strengthen its economic collaboration in areas such as advanced technology, energy, and the digital economy.
