by admin477351

Vietnam and Israel are moving to enhance their economic partnership by accelerating the execution of their free trade agreement and broadening collaboration in trade, industry, and innovation. This decision was the focal point during discussions between Vietnam’s ambassador to Israel and Israel’s Minister of Economy and Industry in Jerusalem. The meeting underscored the significance of the Vietnam–Israel Free Trade Agreement (VIFTA) as a pivotal tool for unlocking additional growth potential.

The economic relationship between the two nations has been marked by robust growth, with bilateral trade hitting approximately $3.63 billion last year. In a promising start to the current year, trade in the first five months alone nearly reached $1.6 billion, driven by a notable increase in Vietnam’s exports compared to the previous year. Officials expressed optimism that Vietnam’s exports to Israel could surpass the $1 billion mark for the first time, should this growth trend persist, aided by heightened demand and the enhanced market access provided by the free trade deal that took effect in late 2024.

Israel, recognizing its strengths in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, medical technology, and advanced agriculture, is advocating for more extensive business cooperation and investment exchanges with Vietnam. The potential for mutual benefits is significant, given the complementary nature of their economic capabilities and the shared interest in innovation-driven growth.

Both countries are committed to maintaining close coordination between their respective agencies and businesses to capitalize on the opportunities presented by their trade agreement. This collaborative approach is expected to further solidify and expand their economic ties, ensuring that both nations can fully leverage the benefits of their strengthened partnership.
