As part of a concerted effort to bolster political trust and strategic coordination, Việt Nam and Singapore are set to enhance cooperation in technology, innovation, and sustainable development. This initiative aligns with Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm’s forthcoming state visit to Singapore from May 29 to 31. Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyễn Mạnh Cường highlighted that the bilateral relationship has transcended traditional economic ties, increasingly focusing on future-oriented sectors that drive long-term growth and regional integration within ASEAN.
Elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025, the Việt Nam-Singapore relationship underscores their growing political trust and shared strategic interests. Singapore remains a crucial economic partner for Việt Nam, standing as its second-largest foreign investor. The partnership spans over numerous projects across manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics, finance, real estate, and high technology sectors. One of the most notable collaborations is the Việt Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network, which is evolving towards greener and smarter industrial models in line with sustainable development goals.
The two nations are also intensifying their cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, big data, clean energy, digital transformation, and green transition initiatives. Efforts are underway to link innovation ecosystems, technology enterprises, and skilled talent networks across both countries. Economic collaboration is expected to remain a central theme during Tô Lâm’s visit, focusing on deepening ties in finance, trade, supply chains, and technology development.
Notably, “Tech Connect” initiatives are anticipated to foster stronger links between governments, universities, research institutes, and private companies in areas like artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green technology. The visit is also poised to support the future generation of sustainable, high-tech VSIP projects throughout Việt Nam.
Tô Lâm is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, one of the region’s premier security forums. Vietnamese officials view the invitation as a testament to Việt Nam’s rising international stature and its dedication to peace, cooperation, and strategic autonomy.
